Next Steps

Contact a local labour leader or labour historian to provide an overview of the lives of early workers in
Canada. This conversation could take place in person or via Skype.

Show episodes from Canada: A People’s History related to the time period of 1850-1915 and ask students
to watch for how working people are portrayed. Who are the workers? What are they doing? Is there any
mention of their treatment or how much they are paid? How are they shown to be contributing to Canada
during the episodes?
