Media Advisory: ETFO and concerned Ontarians rally at Queen’s Park Tuesday to protest sex ed repeal

Members of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and other concerned groups will protest the Ontario government’s repeal of the 2015 sexual health curriculum at a Queen’s Park rally this Tuesday.

Speakers at the 12:30 p.m. rally will include high school student Rayne Fisher-Quann, actor Debra McGrath and her daughter Kinley Mochrie, Canadian Civil Liberties Association Executive Director Michael Bryant, the Muslim community’s Saba Ahmad and ETFO President Sam Hammond.

Standing with the speakers will be representatives of The 519, Women’s Legal Education Action Fund (LEAF), Ontario Nurses’ Association and the Ontario Principals’ Council. Upwards of 1,000 ETFO members will march to Queen’s Park from their Annual Meeting at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.

Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is now scheduled to address ETFO’s Annual Meeting at 9:10 am on Tuesday August 14 in the Grand Ballroom at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.
